We are all deeply saddened by the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, but also so immensely proud that for seventy years she served as our Royal Patron.

Queen Elizabeth was a dedicated supporter of nursing and she championed the profession for decades, highlighting the work carried out by nurses and demonstrating a clear interest in issues facing the workforce.

Many RCN members will remember meeting her as she spent time with nursing staff both in the UK and overseas.

Please share your message of condolence or your memories with us today.

To one of the most sensational women to have ever graced this earth. A very private and protective monarch. Long did she reign and with such dignity and pride. May she watch from above. R.I.P maam.

We have lost a fabulous role model for women and nursing. Many of us have dedicated our lives to nursing, but unlikely to achieve 70 full years. Her Majesty will be deeply missed.

An inspiring woman who dedicated her life to the service of others.. a reflection indeed of the same qualities nurses demonstrate day in and out.. an influential patron to nurses around the world.
